…Provocation…

Edward de Bono’s message There is a mathematical need for provocation in thinking because self-organising systems reach stable states of local equilibrium. Provocation is, of course, one of the tools of lateral thinking. Provocation, however, can only work if we develop the skill of ‘movement’. This is totally different from judgement and is essential for creativity. Nowhere in education is this skill addressed because education is solely about the truth and not about ‘possibility’. Without possibility there is no creativity. My latest book provides 63 exercises which involve the use of ‘movement’. This is one of the basic habits of creative thinking. The title of the book is “How to have creative ideas: 63 exercises to develop the mind” (published by Ebury Press, London)]]>
