Get Your Emails Opened!

Laptop surpriseGet Your Emails Opened! Writing catchy subject lines can seem like an alchemical art. Those with the gift for gab seem to naturally know how to write subject lines that grab their readers’ attention and demand response. For the rest of us, it is harder to write subject lines that get noticed. Here are 3 tips to help you write catchy subject lines that will get your email opened: 1. KISS it The best way to put lead in your subject line is to weight it down with heavy language. Instead of writing long, detailed subject lines, get to the point and use the KISS method: Keep It Simple, Sweetheart. Simple subject lines that give just enough detail to understand the purpose of a message are most useful to the receiver. 2. Honesty is the best policy To have value and meaning for readers, subject lines should be true to the intent of their messages. If your message is low priority, do not label it “Urgent.” Likewise, if your email message contains important information, don’t hide it under a subject line that masks its urgency. 3. Give a deadline We all need to know what’s expected of us by when. If your message needs a response or action by a date, put that deadline in the subject line. Your message is more likely to be opened by its deadline and acted upon. We offer a terrific 2-day workshop called Writing Dynamics™.
