Classic de Bono: … New Ideas
Over the years Dr Edward de Bono has shared great insights through his messages. This series of blogs revisits some of those highlights.
New Ideas
What is the value of a sign-post? What is the value of a door way? What is the value of a new idea? There is no value if you do not wish to follow the sign-post. There is no value if you do not want to step through the doorway. There is no value if you are blind and cannot see the sign-post or the door way. There is no value in a new idea if you are content with the way things are. New ideas are not only about new products or services which may require investment decisions. New ideas may involve simplifying things and saving money. New ideas may solve problems which cannot otherwise be solved. New ideas can fashion new opportunities. If you believe you do not need new ideas you are probably wrong. If you believe you can generate all the new ideas you need you are probably complacent. If you believe a new idea can do a lot for you then you ought to do something about it. Occasional ‘brainstorming’ is not enough. There are far more powerful methods.Edward de Bono nmt
