An economic down turn means we need an innovation upturn

  • Downsizing (again)
  • Reducing head count (again)
  • Re-forecasting
  • Cutting budgets
  • Cancelling training courses etc
  • Yes, I know, these are all the traditional areas that we look to, to ensure we can “ride out the storm”! Some companies however will be very successful during any form of economic downturn. They will be the ones who will look to new ideas, and new ways of using creativity and innovation. Creativity is no longer a luxury – it is the key to economical success and survival; it will separate you from the competition. If you keep on doing what you are doing you will keep on getting what you’ve got. Creativity is a skill that can be learnt by anyone, just like golf or tennis: some, admittedly, will be better than others. Creativity techniques like the Six Thinking Hats, Lateral Thinking and the Innovators Toolkit, are built on the formula of Simple + Practical = Powerful. The organisations that succeed this year will be those that find new, better, faster, easier, cheaper, more convenient and more appealing ways to do things. Put innovation at the top of your to do list. Stuart Scott Master Trainer]]>
