Over the years Dr Edward de Bono has shared great insights through his messages. This series of blogs revisits some of those highlights.
successful new ideas
There is a great deal of talk and lip service about creativity and innovation. The truth is most executives do not want new ideas. New ideas are a disruption. Executives are in their positions to ensure continuity and problem solving. New ideas do not contribute to that. Executives only want ‘successful new ideas’ and those you can borrow from someone else with a ‘me too’. It is like a horse breeder who only wants winning race horses. But unless you try some matings you are never going to get them. Creativity, unfortunately, is not like addition where you are sure of getting an answer.Edward de Bono nmt, 1st September 2004
